Getting Started with Industrial Asset Hub
Welcome to Siemens Industrial Asset Hub (IAH). This guide walks you through the essential prerequisites and initial steps to prepare your environment, access the application, and start discovering your industrial assets.
1. Obtain a Subscription
Before you can use the Industrial Asset Hub, you must acquire a valid subscription.
- Navigate to the PLM Marketplace.
- During checkout, select the Enterprise Cloud Account where the IAH product should be provisioned. If you do not already have an Enterprise Cloud Account, one will be created for you automatically upon purchase.
- If you plan to deploy using Siemens Industrial Edge, you must also apply for an Industrial Edge Hub Access via the Industrial Edge Marketplace.
2. Prepare Your Environment
To successfully deploy the Asset Gateway and Asset Links, your infrastructure must meet specific hardware and network requirements.
Hardware Requirements (Gateway Device)
You need a device to host the Asset Links and Asset Gateway software. Ensure your hardware meets the following minimum specifications:
- Architecture: ARM or Intel x64-based processor
- Storage: At least 4 GB of spare capacity
- Memory: At least 2 GB RAM
- Software: A Linux operating system with Docker installed, capable of running Docker Compose applications.
Recommendation
For optimal performance and guaranteed compatibility with IAH features, we highly recommend using Siemens Industrial Edge Devices as your Asset Gateway devices.
Network and Connectivity
Your gateway device sits between your OT (Operational Technology) network and the cloud.
- OT Network Access: The OT devices you wish to discover must be reachable from the network the Asset Gateway is connected to. For low-level protocols (such as PROFINET), your dedicated Asset Links require Layer 2 (L2) network access within the exact IP subnet of your OT devices.
- Cloud Access (IAH Backend): The gateway device must have outbound access to the IAH backend service. This connection is established securely via a TLS-encrypted HTTPS connection on port 443.
Proxy Support
If your network requires a proxy, you can configure an HTTP/HTTPS proxy in the gateway configuration file. See the Http(s) Proxy section for detailed architecture.
3. Access the Application
Once your subscription is active and your environment is prepared, you can log in to the application.
- Configure User Access: Use the Xcelerator Admin Console to manage which users in your organization have access to IAH. This ensures sensitive industrial data is restricted to authorized personnel.
- Log In: Navigate to the IAH Application and log in using your Siemens user ID and password.
- Don't have an account? Use the sign-up option on the login page to create one.
4. Next Steps
Now that you have access to the application and your hardware is ready, you need to configure your gateways and run your first discovery scan.
Proceed to the Setup Guide (Administrators) to learn how to deploy the Asset Gateway and start scanning your network.
